Designed to give students an understanding of global medieval history, as   well as the diversity of different groups interacting between east and west  along the route known as the Silk Roads. Focuses on key ideas such as trade,  religious tolerance and conflict.

The end of the unit asks them to think about why the Silk Roads have been  forgotten in mainstream history, and attempts to get them to challenge the  Eurocentric nature of history (and the history curriculum).
